Xperiment, dark electro industrial (terror ebm) band from Spain...

1-. Have you been in Netherlands? Xperiment, could you give our readers a little introduction about your musical project

Ashes: No I don’t, but I hope to visit Netherlands soon/ Xperiment is a Horror-industrial/EBM Project with expressive lyrics about lonelyness, devastation, death, destruction, rage…
E[x]ecutor: Yes, I’ve been in Ámsterdam a few years ago and I loved it. Xperiment is more than music, is a visual and sonorous concept, is EBM, is horror, is industrial… is Xperiment.

2- Greetings Ashes and E[x]ecutor could you please shortly introduce our readers your music project Xperiment?

Ashes: I’d like to give special thanks to my wife Almudena for support me all time and for being our #1 fan, Also, I Greet Zufo for support Xperiment from the beginning and trust in us to release our first EP, Johan Van Roy from Suicide Commando for help me to select part of my equipment, Sara Sánchez, for modeling in the artwork of First Vision EP and being our #2 fan hehehe and everyone who appears in the greetings of our CD, but, first of all, to  E[x]ecutor, my partner in Xperiment for make this possible.
E[x]ecutor: I’d like to be thankful to many people, among them, two persons that Ashes also mentions. Johan Van Roy and Zufo, also, Sergio for being my perfect musical partner and his wife for being an inconditional support for us, and, of course, everyone who listen us, without them, anything of this would be possible.

3- Please fill also a biographical resume about how, when and where... was founded in… give us a more background information?

Ashes: Xperiment was founded in 2008 when I met E[x]ecutor, he have had some troubles in his band and he had decided to create a new project with me. We have our own musical influences but we have similar preferences. As extra information, we have joined in a few compilation CD’s like (AE)quilibrium – Man Vs. Machine, CyberInsemination Alliance and La Tierra de los Sueños vol. 4  Also, we have remixed a lot of tracks from Turmion Kätilöt, Hexen Prozess, Alien Produkt, Infra Black, Kadaver acht… And now I’m mixing & mastering the new album of the spanish band Vondage. Band that we’ll remix too.
E[x]ecutor: I’ll add a thing, though Xperiment seems a young project, has so many years at its backs, because the first ideas comes from old projects were I learnt, evolutionate and later left to found this band.

4- What and who are some of your influences in EBM?

6- Tell one secret about Xperiment that you have never told to anyone?

Ashes: I compose better in full moon nights and if somebody disturbs me when I’m recording I use my airsoft gun against him hehehe.
E[x]ecutor: Xperiment is little a vengeance to some members from other bands were I’ve played, is my way to show them that was a mistake leave me go.

7- So, tell me a bit more about yourself, such as musical and tell me about this album First Headshot?
Ashes: In the last years I have learnt of many musicians, and I have practised a lot to chase a professional sound. This can be appreciated in the new tracks that we have included in First Headshot.
E[x]ecutor: I’ve been working on music for 20 years, I started playing synthpop, at Depeche Mode pure style, but along the time I learnt so many things and I get more agressive on my sound, as we show in this new “First Headshot”.

8- By the way, do you like my questions? Tell me what you think about it!

Ashes: yeah baby, give me more hahaha.
E[x]ecutor: I like them, aren’t stupid questions and they are well presented.

9- What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? Have you changed the band’s name before?

Ashes: Our band is called Xperiment, we haven’t change it’s name since the begining of the project. E[x]ecutor founded the band and he can give you more information about the name of the band.
E[x]ecutor: Xperiment it’s a joke with myself, I was in other band and were expecting the end on it, so I said, meanwhile I’m going to create an experiment to have an alternative way, but at the end, the experiment became something real and strong, Xperiment.

10- Where did the concept come from? and whats planned now that your album is finished? or anything else you're working on? Tell me why this title "First EP "First Vision"? Tell us a few words about the concept of this?

Ashes: We chose First Vision as title in order to create a second work, a  double full-lenght album called Visions of Destruction, in wich we’re working now. In First Vision we wanted to offer a general vision about our work, that will be expanded at our new release Visions of Destruction.
E[x]ecutor: The concept is the human skill to generate evilness, and a point of view about it that is interior and exterior at the same time, the first vision of this concept of evilness is what we try to offer in our first EP, that’s the reason for its name, “First Vision”.

11- Are you a member of any music organizations and tell me about your label?

Ashes: Yes, after recording First Vision EP, Zufo, chairmen of Mutant-e Records signed me to work with him in his label. Also, I work doing proffessional mastering for other bands in Neurotoxine Studios and I manage  a 24 h. on-line radio called Ashes Radio, where you can listen a lot of Harsh Electro / Industrial / EBM / Electro Dark bands. Visit us at: www.myspace.com/ashesradio
E[x]ecutor: I also take part in Neurotoxine Studios, and if we’re talking about our record label, Mutant-E I must say that it’s the best thing could ever happened us, also, other record labels like HHR has supported us in some moments of this release called “First Heashot”, I’m happy because Zufo, the Mutant-E chairmen is a person with all my confidence.

12- What do you think of a modern dark electro industrial and about dark electro industrial scene?

Ashes: Well, I’m a little bit dissapointed with “the Scene” because currently it seems most important have a convincing look than a musical culture. Now, we can find a lot of people in the clubs dressed as the perfect industrial guy/girl but if you ask them for their musical preferences, they don’t know what to tell you because they don’t “waste” their time listening music, they prefer shopping!!
E[x]ecutor: In Spain there’s not much movement, but lately it seems there is a little bit more interest on it. In Europe is still an important scene and it will be for so many years, but I think that Ashes says it’s already part of the scene, this little trouble called possers.

13- Our usual question, what is dark electro / industrial for you?

Ashes: I take a different sight of dark-electro and industrial. For me, industrial music has agressive voices and sounds and fast rythms referenced to harsh electro music, otherwise, dark-electro music has melodic voices and slower but more defined rythms. Now is usual to find many vocalist in this kind of music.
E[x]ecutor: For me is the union of many similar styles that I like, as dark electro, EBM, industrial…

14- What was your best live experience so far?

Ashes: give us time!
E[x]ecutor: Espeto Dark Festival on Málaga with Spetsnaz and Proceed when I was in my older band, wonderful people in and out of the scenary.

15- Please list the name, age, and respective instrument of each band member

Ashes: I’m Sergio, I’m 24 years old, I play synths and sing.
E[x]ecutor: Jose Manuel, 35 years old, I play synths and programming.

16- What are your views on the current state of this electro scene in Madrid Spanje. in terms of creativity and audiences? And the scene in other countries?

Ashes: In Madrid the industrial scene is so reduced, there are only a few people really interested in the industrial music but we hope that will change soon.
E[x]ecutor: In Spain there’s not much industrial scene, but lately it seems there’s a little bit more interest on it, and I like it.

17- You have very nice album… and many many more tell me about lyrical compositions what you can tell about the done work? How does your music creation process work? How do you create a song?

Ashes: The Xperiment’s lyrics are just hidden metaphors of our current reality. The real life is so hard, our lyrics… too. Our musical creation process? Well, we make musical experiments until something satisfy us, then, we record it and we write the lyrics.
E[x]ecutor: Ashes write all lyrics, I must say that when I send him something I have composed, soon he understands the concept and writes a proper lyric, just like I have imagined. At the beginning, we create a base idea, after we study the concept that inspire us and we start to add instrumentation and at the end, Ashes add the lyrics.

18- What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?

Ashes: Harsh Electro / Industrial also influenced by EBM.
E[x]ecutor: I don’t like labels, but for influences, I can say that we are in the way of Harsh Electro / Industrial with a touch of EBM.

19- What do you do to chill out?

Ashes: I like to travel with my wife looking for unsolved misteries, photography, cinema…
E[x]ecutor: I play Kenpo (a martial art), compose more music or going out with a good friend to Chat about philosophy, history, society…

20- So what are their main influences as a band at the moment?

Ashes: all people who listen us use to say that our music is in the way of Suicide Comamndo and Hocico
E[x]ecutor: Suicide Commando, X-Fusion and a little bit of Hocico, but it could be thousand thing more because everything around me influences me in some way and this arrive to our music.

21- Do you think that people from the music press didn't expect you to grow up musically?

Ashes: Usually, the record labels pay the press to make articles about their bands. More Money, more pages and photos, this is the reality.
E[x]ecutor: I agree with Ashes.

22- What is the key to making music from Xperiment and what inspires you to keep growing as a musician?

Ashes: Coca-cola never reveals his secret.
E[x]ecutor: Our fans, to know that there are people supporting us and listening our music.

23- How do you see the future of download / Copyright in area of goth-EBM industrial music? What are the best ways to develop it in your mind ?
Ashes: First headshot is available for direct download too, but I think that people who pay per music want the CD, not only the MP3 file. Have the complete artwork and the lyrics can give you a most detailed idea about the band. Otherwise, ilegal dowloading is a trouble for the goth-EBM scene because if you don’t sell your album, none record label will trust in you for a new release.
E[x]ecutor: I’m not against downloadings, but only if later you buy the CD if you like the music you’ve download, If people doesn’t buy the CD’s, record labels will dissapear and without them, many bands couldn’t release new jobs.

24- Please let us know about your upcoming plans, some new releases you like to confirm here

Ashes: We’re working in a new relase, a double full-lenght album, called Visions of Destruction, our idea is record a complete album and offer a second remix album with collaborations like A-industrya, Gradual Hate, Mordacious…

25- It has been a pleasure to interview you on your musical activity,Well, any last words to your ebm-industrial fans?

Ashes: We’re working hard to offer you a high quality material, we hope you like it, and if you want, you can contact us on myspace to tell us your opinion, that helps us to improve.
E[x]ecutor: An enormous and honest “Thank you”.

26- Thanks for your time! great work on the albums and good luck with everything. Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?

Ashes + E[x]ecutor: People can visit our myspace at www.myspace.com/xperimentmusic  or our official website www.xperimentmusic.com Also, we have a fan page at Facebook and there are some free remixes of Kadaver Acht and Hexen Prozess to download.
